Tokyo Metropolitan Kongamore Hospital randomises 1st 2 patients from Japan to SUPREMO.

Congratulations to Dr Katsumasa Kuroi and colleagues at Tokyo Metropolitan Komagome Hospital, Japan, who randomised their 1st patient to SUPREMO on 17th  July 09 followed by their 2nd patient on 13th Aug 09.

Congratulations also go to Dr Feng-yan Li, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, for randomising the 1st 2 patients from Guangzhou, China on 17th July 09.  This is the 2nd Chinese site to recruit patients to the trial following randomisation of the 1st 2 patients to SUPREMO from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing, on the 8th July 09 . 

Recruitment of these patients to SUPREMO represents the first time that patients from China have been recruited into an international academic radiotherapy trial under the auspices of Breast International Group (BIG) and the participation of Asian women in SUPREMO was reported in the New York Times on 3rd August 09.  Please click on this link to view the on-line article: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/04/health/04glob.html?_r=1

The SUPREMO team would like to thank the research teams at the following sites for their achievements in July:

Dr V Reyes Lopez at Hospital General Vall D'Hebron, Barcelona, for randomising the 100th EORTC patient on 12th Aug 09.

Dr Gilles Truc and Madame Brayer Josette for completing all the necessary approvals to open SUPREMO to recruitment at Centre Georges- Francois- Leclerc, Dijon, France.

Dr Adrian Harnett, Dr Jane Beety, Ms Suzanne Penny and Mrs Lucy Fagan for opening the trial at James Paget University Hospital, Great Yarmouth.

The SUPREMO monthly recruitment record was broken for the second month running in July 09 when 37 patients were randomised to the trial.  The SUPREMO team would like to congratulate the research teams at the following sites for their achievements in July and their valued contributions to this accrual [patients in July/ total patients recruited to date by site]:
