Explaining SUPREMO to patients - Notes for Clinicians

Dear Investigator

Trials of radiotherapy vs no radiotherapy are always more difficult to recruit. As many centres have reported, patients commonly either want or do not want radiotherapy, I have therefore drawn up some guidelines for breast cancer professionals involved in recruiting patients to SUPREMO. They try to present the pros and cons of adjuvant radiotherapy in a balanced way. I should emphasise that they are not intended to be prescriptive in any way. Each of us will present the trial slightly differently. Any feedback would be appreciated. Please pass on the enclosed laminated copy to the research nurse(s) involved in SUPREMO if you think they might find it helpful.

Your continuing support for the trial is greatly appreciated. If there is anything you think our trial team can do to help recruitment in your centre please do not hesitate to let us know.

Yours sincerely
